-- People shouldn't have to come to you for these issues. Very simple, tie 10% or so of your folks pay to performance metrics like on-time shipping. Set up a measure, sample customers for satisfaction and use the measurement to drive employee rewards. 10% pay could be bonuses on top of regular pay, etc. -- if you are serious about addressing these issues, put a program in place. Tell you customers about it too -- not rocket science, just on the ball management.
